Arava 20 Mg

Available only with a prescription, Arava® (leflunomide) is a medication used to treat rheumatoid arthritis. Arava comes in tablet form and is usually taken by mouth once a day.

Before prescribing this medication, your healthcare provider will take into consideration several factors when determining your dosage amount. Some of these factors include how you respond to Arava, other medical conditions you may have, and other medications you are taking.

For example, most adults taking this medication for rheumatoid arthritis will start with 100 mg daily for three days, followed by 20 mg of Arava once daily thereafter. The initial higher dose of 100 mg daily for three days is called a "loading dose." A loading dose is used to quickly get Arava to effective levels in the blood.
