Methotrexate and Arava Drug Interaction

If you take Arava® (leflunomide) with methotrexate (Rheumatrex®, Trexall®), drug interactions may occur. Combining these medications may increase your risk for potentially serious complications, including liver problems. If your healthcare provider recommends taking these medications together, he or she will need to closely monitor you.

To minimize your risk of these and other potential drug interactions with Arava, make sure your healthcare provider is aware of any other prescription or nonprescription medications you are taking, as well as any herbal supplements or vitamins.
