Although most people refer to arthritis as a single condition involving painful or stiff joints, the term is actually used to describe a group of more than 100 rheumatic diseases. There are many different types of arthritis, each with its own causes and set of symptoms. You may have some form of the disease if you have lasting joint pain, have problems using or moving a joint normally, or experience tenderness or pain when touching a joint.
