Info on Rheumatoid Arthritis

Rheumatoid arthritis is a type of autoimmune disease, which is where a person's immune system mistakenly attacks the person's own body. Some of the most common symptoms include:

  • Tender, warm, and swollen joints
  • Symmetrical pattern of affected joints
  • Joint inflammation often affecting the wrist and finger joints closest to the hand.
  •
Symptoms of this condition generally occur in a symmetrical pattern. For example, when one hand or knee is involved, the other one is also. Although the exact causes of rheumatoid arthritis are not known, things that may be linked to it include genes, hormones, and environmental factors.
