Arthrotec Arthritis Medication

As a type of arthritis medication, Arthrotec® (diclofenac/misoprostol) is approved to treat osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. This is a combination product and contains another medicine that can help to prevent stomach or intestinal ulcers, which may occur due to the pain-relieving component in Arthrotec. This drug is specifically used in adults who have osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis and have a risk for ulcers or complications from ulcers.

The diclofenac component of Arthrotec is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It can help relieve symptoms of arthritis, such as pain and swelling. However, the medication will not cure arthritis, nor will it slow down the progression of the disease.
