Arthrotec® (diclofenac/misoprostol) is a prescription medication approved to treat the symptoms of certain types of arthritis in people who are at risk for ulcers. As a combination medication, Arthrotec contains two active ingredients.
One of these components is diclofenac sodium (Voltaren®, Voltaren®-XR), which is a type of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that is used to relieve the symptoms of arthritis. The other component is misoprostol (Cytotec®), a prostaglandin that helps reduce the risk of ulcers.
Arthrotec comes in tablet form and is available in the following strengths:
- Arthrotec 50/200 -- which contains diclofenac 50 mg and misoprostol 200 mcg
- Arthrotec 75/200 -- which contains diclofenac 75 mg and misoprostol 200 mcg.
