Arthrotec Side Effects
You should seek medical treatment if you are taking Arthrotec and experience problems like chest pain, decreased urination, or vomiting of blood. While reactions such as these may be potentially dangerous, most side effects of Arthrotec are generally minor and treated easily. Some of the more commonly reported reactions include diarrhea, heartburn, and abdominal (stomach) pain.
An Introduction to Arthrotec Side EffectsJust like any medicine, Arthrotec® (diclofenac/misoprostol) can cause side effects. However, not everyone who takes the drug will have problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider.
(This article covers many, but not all, of the possible side effects with Arthrotec. Your healthcare provider can discuss a more complete list with you.)
Common Side Effects of ArthrotecArthrotec has been studied in clinical trials. In these studies, the side effects that occurred in a group of people taking Arthrotec were documented and compared to those that occurred in a group of people given diclofenac alone (one of the components of Arthrotec). As a result, it was possible to see what side effects were reported and how often they occurred.
In clinical studies, the most common Arthrotec side effects included:
- Abdominal (stomach) pain -- in up to 21 percent of people
- Diarrhea -- up to 19 percent
- Heartburn or indigestion -- up to 14 percent
- Nausea -- up to 11 percent
- Gas -- up to 9 percent.
