Celebrex Dosage

Factors that can affect your prescribed Celebrex dosage include your symptoms, weight, current medications, and other medical conditions you may have. To reduce the likelihood of side effects, your condition will be treated with the lowest effective dose for the least amount of time. The recommend starting Celebrex dosage for most people is 100 mg to 200 mg a day.

 

Celebrex Dosage: An Introduction

The dosage of Celebrex® (celecoxib) your healthcare provider recommends will vary, depending on a number of factors, including:
 
  • The medical condition you are being treated for
  • Other medical conditions you may have
  • Other medications you are currently taking
  • Your weight.
     
As is always the case, do not adjust your Celebrex dosage, unless specifically instructed by your healthcare provider to do so.
 

Celebrex Dosages for Various Medical Conditions

The following sections describe Celebrex dosages for certain medical conditions, including:
 
Osteoarthritis
The recommended starting dosage of Celebrex for most people with osteoarthritis is 200 mg -- either once a day as a single dose or as 100 mg twice a day.
 
Rheumatoid Arthritis
The recommended starting Celebrex dosage for most people with rheumatoid arthritis is 100 mg to 200 mg, twice a day.
 
Ankylosing Spondylitis
The recommended starting dosage of Celebrex for most people with ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is 200 mg -- either once a day as a single dose or as 100 mg twice a day. After several weeks, if pain is still present, your healthcare provider may choose increase your Celebrex dosage to 400 mg per day. If pain still does not improve, your healthcare provider may recommend other options for pain relief.
