Celebrex® (celecoxib) is a prescription medicine approved for treating several conditions related to inflammation and pain, including arthritis symptoms and painful menstrual periods. It has also been shown to decrease the number of colon and rectal polyps in people with familial adenomatous polyposis, a hereditary condition. Celebrex comes in capsule form, is available in four strengths, and is typically taken once or twice a day. Potential side effects include fluid retention, diarrhea, and stomach pain.
