Effects of Celebrex

Available only by prescription, Celebrex® (celecoxib) is a drug used to treat several conditions related to pain and inflammation, such as arthritis, tendonitis, and painful menstrual periods.

This medicine works in the body by blocking COX-2, an enzyme that plays a role in pain and inflammation. Although most people do not develop any problems while taking it, side effects (such as indigestion or diarrhea) have been reported.

Typically, Celebrex is taken once or twice a day, depending on the condition being treated. It is important to take the lowest effective dose of Celebrex for the least amount of time in order to treat your condition. This can help decrease the risk of serious side effects.
