Who Makes Celebrex?

The prescription drug Celebrex® (celecoxib) is approved for the treatment of various conditions that can cause pain and inflammation, such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and painful menstrual periods. This product comes in capsule form and is taken either once or twice a day.

Pfizer, Inc., is the company that makes Celebrex. At this time, they are the only manufacturers of it, as a patent protects Celebrex and prevents any generic version from being produced. Once this patent expires, provided there are no outstanding legal issues, generic Celebrex could become available.

Most people have no problems during treatment with this medication; however, adverse reactions are possible. Commonly reported side effects include indigestion, diarrhea, and stomach pain. Before taking Celebrex, tell your healthcare provider about any other drugs you are taking (including nonprescription products) and any other medical conditions you have.
