Daypro

Daypro, a type of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug, is commonly used for reducing pain, inflammation, swelling, or stiffness caused by different forms of arthritis. By blocking the effects of certain hormones called prostaglandins, the medicine is effective in treating symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. Daypro is available as a caplet and comes in one 600-mg strength.

 

What Is Daypro?

Daypro® (oxaprozin) is a prescription medicine used to treat pain, inflammation, swelling, and or stiffness. It is part of a class of drugs called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or NSAIDs for short.

Daypro is manufactured by Pfizer.
 

What Is Daypro Used For?

Daypro has been licensed for the relief of signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. Daypro is not a cure for these types of arthritis, however, nor does it slow down the progression of the disease.

How Does Daypro Work?

Daypro and other NSAIDs work by inhibiting the action of certain hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body. These hormones are called prostaglandins.
 

Effects of Daypro

By blocking the effects of prostaglandins, Daypro is useful at reducing pain, inflammation, and joint swelling associated with different forms of arthritis and other painful conditions.
