Benefits of Enbrel
People with arthritic conditions like rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic arthritis often find Enbrel® (etanercept) to be beneficial. In particular, this medication is effective at relieving symptoms like joint pain, swelling, and inflammation; it also helps prevent future damage to the joints. Available as an injection, it is usually administered once or twice a week.
These and other benefits of Enbrel lie in how the medication works. It belongs to a class of drugs called tumor necrosis factor (TNF) inhibitors. These medicines block the action of a specific chemical in the body, called TNF-alpha, that is known to play a role in inflammation and immune system reactions in the body.
