Dosing With Etodolac

Dosing with etodolac is based on several factors, including what you are being treated for and other medicines you are already taking. The typical dose for acute pain is 200 mg to 400 mg every six to eight hours. When treating arthritis symptoms, options include 300 mg (taken two to three times daily), 400 mg (twice daily), or 500 mg (twice daily). Dosing with etodolac should never exceed 1000 mg a day.

 

Dosing With Etodolac: An Introduction

The dose of etodolac (Lodine®) that your healthcare provider prescribes will vary, depending on a number of factors, including:
 
  • The medical condition you are being treated for
  • Other medical conditions you may have
  • Other medications you are currently taking.
     
As is always the case, do not adjust your etodolac dose unless your healthcare provider specifically instructs you to do so.
 

Dosing With Etodolac for Acute Pain

For acute pain relief, the recommended etodolac dose is 200 mg to 400 mg, taken every six to eight hours. The maximum recommended daily dose of etodolac is 1000 mg.
 

Dosing With Etodolac for Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis

When treating osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis symptoms, the recommended etodolac dose may be one of the following:
 
  • Etodolac 300 mg, taken two or three times a day
  • Etodolac 400 mg, taken two times a day
  • Etodolac 500 mg, taken two times a day.
     
As with acute pain, the maximum recommended daily dose of etodolac is 1000 mg.
 
It may take several weeks for people with osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis to feel the full effects of etodolac.
