What Is Flurbiprofen Used For?

Some people may wonder, "What is flurbiprofen used for?" Flurbiprofen is used for relieving symptoms of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, among other conditions. Occasionally, flurbiprofen may be used "off-label" to treat gout symptoms, migraines, symptoms of systemic lupus erythematosus, or generalized pain (such as lower back, neck, or knee pain), among other conditions. How Does Flurbiprofen Work?

Flurbiprofen and other NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) are thought to work by inhibiting the action of certain hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body. These hormones are called prostaglandins. By blocking the effects of prostaglandins, flurbiprofen is useful at reducing fever and alleviating pain or joint swelling associated with different forms of arthritis and other conditions.
