Flurbiprofen (Ansaid^®) is a prescription medication that has been licensed to treat several conditions related to pain, inflammation, fever, and/or stiffness.

Specific uses include:

Relief of osteoarthritis symptoms
Relief of rheumatoid arthritis symptoms.

Flurbiprofen is not a cure for these types of arthritis, nor does it slow the progression of the disease.

How Does It Work?

Flurbiprofen and other NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) are thought to work by inhibiting the action of certain hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body. These hormones are called prostaglandins.
