Nonunion or a failure of the bone to heal occurs in about 5 in 100 procedures. This number increases to as high as 40 in 100 for repeat procedures. Symptoms can include weakness in your leg muscles, pain or a limp. It is possible that a repeat surgery may be necessary to address this problem.
