Bone Healing Problems Following Total Hip Surgery

Non-union, or a failure of the bone to heal, occurs in about 5 in 100 hip replacement surgeries. This number increases to as many as 40 in 100 for repeat hip replacement surgeries. Following total hip surgery, bone healing problems can lead to symptoms such as pain and/or weakness in your leg muscles, or a limp. A repeat surgery may be necessary to address this problem.
