Ibuprofen (marketed under brand names such as Motrin®, Advil®, Genpril®, and Nuprin®) works by blocking the effects of certain hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body. As a result, it can help relieve the symptoms of conditions like painful menstrual periods, osteoarthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis.
In particular, ibuprofen can be used to treat arthritis symptoms such as pain, stiffness, and swelling. It's important to remember, however, that even though this medication may relieve pain and other symptoms, it does not cure arthritis or slow down the progression of the disease.
