Ibuprofen is a medication that is often used to treat several conditions related to pain, inflammation, fever, and stiffness. In particular, this nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) can help relieve symptoms of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and painful menstrual periods. It comes in prescription and non-prescription strengths, and is available in the form of tablets, caplets, capsules, and a liquid solution. Although ibuprofen is tolerated well by most people, it is not suitable for everyone. Before using this medication, talk to your healthcare provider about any other health conditions you have, as well as any other medications you are taking, including vitamins and supplements.
