Indomethacin (Indocin®) is a medication often used for relieving the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, gout, osteoarthritis, and other painful conditions. It is available by prescription only and comes in the form of capsules, oral suspension, and suppositories. Indomethacin belongs to a class of medicines known as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, which work by inhibiting the effects of certain pain-causing hormones. Before using this pain reliever, you should talk to your healthcare provider if you have high blood pressure, asthma, or diabetes.
