You will have a scar following knee replacement surgery. Most often, these heal without any problems. However, it is possible that you will develop abnormal scars, especially if you have a history of keloids (excessive, thick scarring). If this is a concern for you, discuss this with a dermatologist and your physician. The appearance of the scars, however, does not predict your results of the knee replacement surgery. Even patients with enlarged scars can have excellent surgical results.
