Nerve injuries are also a complication of hip replacement surgery, occurring in 2 to 5 out of 100 procedures. Most injuries are temporary, improving in several days to months. The symptoms can range from temporary to permanent problems in the legs and/or foot, including loss of feeling and strength of the affected area.
