Although most people tolerate naproxen (brand names include Aleve®, Naprosyn®, EC-Naprosyn®, Anaprox®, Anaprox® DS, and Naprelan®) well, it is not free of dangerous risks. Because this medication is not suitable for everyone, make sure you talk to your healthcare provider about the possible problems that may apply to you. For example, naproxen has the potential to cause side effects.

Although side effects of naproxen tend to be minor, there are some serious side effects that require immediate medical attention. Contact your healthcare provider right away if you experience problems such as chest pain, slurred speech, or difficulty breathing.
 
Other naproxen warnings apply to women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, as well as people who have certain allergies. Also, you may not be able to take naproxen if you have certain medical conditions, such as liver disease, asthma, or diabetes.
