At this time, generic Zydone is not available, even though all patents for the medication have expired. Drug manufacturers may have decided not to make any generic versions of the drug because of the time and expense involved. Therefore, generic Zydone may never be available.
No -- many different generic hydrocodone/APAP versions are available, but none are equivalent to Zydone. None of these generic medications are the same strength as the Zydone products.
When Will Generic Zydone Be Available?
This is a difficult question to answer. There are no unexpired patents for the drug that would prevent another company from making a generic version of Zydone. However, no companies have chosen to do so. Perhaps Zydone is not profitable enough for a generic manufacturer to go through the time and expense necessary to make the medication. At this time, it is not known when (or even if) generic Zydone may become available.
