How Does Mobic Work?

Mobic® (meloxicam) is a medication used to treat symptoms of various types of arthritis, including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. It belongs to a class of drugs called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). But how does Mobic work?
Mobic works by inhibiting the action of certain hormones, called prostaglandins, which cause inflammation and pain in the body. By blocking the effects of prostaglandins, Mobic is useful for reducing:
  • Pain
  • Inflammation
  • Stiffness
  • Swelling.
Although Mobic helps relieve these symptoms, it is not a cure for the types of arthritis mentioned above, nor does it slow the progression of the disease.
