Mobic

Mobic is a prescription drug used for the treatment of symptoms related to osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. Part of a class of drugs known as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), it works by inhibiting the action of certain hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body. Mobic comes in a tablet or liquid suspension form and is available in three different strengths. Some common Mobic side effects include gas, insomnia, and heartburn or indigestion.

 

What Is Mobic?

Mobic® (meloxicam) is a prescription medicine used to treat pain, inflammation, swelling, and/or stiffness. It is part of a class of drugs called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or NSAIDs for short.

Mobic is manufactured by Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals.
 

Mobic Uses

Mobic has been licensed for the relief of signs and symptoms associated with osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and juvenile rheumatoid arthritis.
 
Mobic is not a cure for the types of arthritis mentioned above, nor does it slow the progression of the disease.

How Does Mobic Work?

Mobic and other NSAIDs work by inhibiting the action of certain hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body. These hormones are called prostaglandins.
 

Mobic Effects

By blocking the effects of prostaglandins, Mobic is useful at reducing pain, inflammation, and joint swelling associated with different forms of arthritis and painful conditions.
