Naprelan Dosage

The usual dosage of Naprelan for acute pain relief or treatment of painful menstrual periods is two 500 mg tablets once a day. People with rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, or ankylosing spondylitis are recommended to take a starting dose of 375 mg or 500 mg per day. It may take one to two weeks to see the full effects of Naprelan on arthritis symptoms.

Dosing With Naprelan: An Introduction

The dose of Naprelan® (naproxen sodium) your healthcare provider recommends will vary depending on a number of factors, including:

  • The medical condition you are being treated for
  • Other medical conditions you may have
  • Other medications you may be currently taking.

As always, do not adjust your Naprelan dose unless your healthcare provider specifically instructs you to do so.

Acute Pain, Including Painful Menstrual Periods

For acute pain relief or treatment of painful menstrual periods, the usual adult dose is two Naprelan 500 mg tablets once a day.

Rheumatoid Arthritis, Osteoarthritis, and Ankylosing Spondylitis

The recommended starting dosage for most people with rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, or ankylosing spondylitis is Naprelan 375 mg or 500 mg once a day.

If pain is still present after several weeks, your healthcare provider may choose to increase your dose. If pain still does not improve, your healthcare provider may recommend other options for pain relief.

If you are taking Naprelan to help relieve arthritis symptoms, such as joint inflammation, it may take one to two weeks for it to work to its full potential. However, Naprelan helps to relieve pain in about 30 minutes.
