Problems With Naproxen

As with many other medications, naproxen (brand names include Aleve®, Naprosyn®, EC-Naprosyn®, Anaprox®, Anaprox® DS, and Naprelan®) can sometimes cause problems. Some of the most common problems with naproxen include side effects, such as:
 
If side effects do occur, they tend to be minor and easy to treat. However, there are some potentially serious naproxen reactions that require immediate medical attention. Contact your healthcare provider if you experience problems such as:
 
  • Chest pain
  • Shortness of breath
  • Weakness on one side of your body
  • Slurred speech.
     
Other naproxen warnings and precautions apply to women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, as well as people who have certain allergies. Also, you may not be able to take naproxen if you have certain medical conditions, such as liver disease, diabetes, or asthma.
