Remicade Risks

Based on the results of clinical studies, taking Remicade® (infliximab) increases the risk of many health problems, such as:

  • Infections
  • Anemia
  • Hepatitis
  • Lupus-like conditions.

In addition, the risk of death was shown to go up in studies that looked at people with congestive heart failure who took Remicade. Also, worsening of heart failure and new cases of heart failure in people who did not already have it have been reported in people taking this drug.

It should be noted, however, that most people are able to receive Remicade without any risk to their health. In cases where side effects do occur, the problems tend to be minor and require little (if any) treatment.
