Effects of Rheumatoid Arthritis on Life Expectancy

For people with rheumatoid arthritis, the median life expectancy is decreased by three to seven years. In up to 30 percent of people, rheumatoid arthritis directly contributes to loss of life. Most often, this occurs in people with severe rheumatoid arthritis and is caused by infections or gastrointestinal bleeding.
