Synvisc Therapy

Synvisc® (
hylan G-F 20) is an osteoarthritis treatment that is injected directly into the knee to cushion and lubricate the joint. Such treatments are known as viscosupplements. Synvisc therapy is most appropriate for people who have not received adequate pain relief from other arthritis treatments (such as medications) but who are not yet good candidates for knee replacement surgery.

Synvisc therapy consists of a series of three injections. Your healthcare provider will administer one injection once a week, for a total of three weeks. Synvisc can provide pain relief for as long as six months. After six months, you may receive a repeat course of injections, if necessary.
