Xeljanz Side Effects
Problems like headaches, diarrhea, or infections are common for people who are taking Xeljanz. In fact, most people who are taking this prescription drug will develop some type of side effect. Clinical studies have also shown that potentially serious side effects are possible with Xeljanz and include things like breathing problems, fever, and dark urine.
Just like any medicine, Xeljanz® (tofacitinib) can cause side effects, some of which can be significant. Although not everyone who takes this medication will have problems, most people will experience some type of side effect during treatment. Talk to your healthcare provider about ways to prevent or lessen reactions to this medicine.

Xeljanz has been studied extensively in clinical trials. In these studies, the side effects that occurred in a group of people taking the drug were carefully documented and compared to those that occurred in a group of people taking a placebo (a "sugar pill" that does not contain any active ingredients). As a result, it was possible to see what side effects occurred, how often they appeared, and how they compared to the placebo.
