Zydone Interactions Explained
The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative interactions that can occur when
Zydone is combined with any of the drugs listed above.
Alcohol
It is a good idea to avoid alcohol while taking Zydone. Alcohol interacts with hydrocodone, the narcotic component of Zydone, potentially increasing the risk of serious side effects, such as extreme drowsiness, confusion, memory loss, or difficulty breathing. Alcohol also interacts with the
acetaminophen (
Tylenol®) component of Zydone, increasing the risk of liver damage
(see Tylenol and Alcohol for more information).
Antidepressant Medications
Combining Zydone with an
antidepressant could increase your risk of side effects, such as drowsiness, confusion, memory loss, or difficulty breathing. Serious side effects may also occur. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking Zydone with an antidepressant, as you may need to be monitored more closely.
Antihistamines
Many antihistamines cause significant drowsiness and can cause serious problems when used in combination with other medications that cause drowsiness, such as Zydone. Check with your healthcare provider before taking Zydone with an antihistamine, including non-prescription antihistamines in allergy, cold/cough, sleep, and motion sickness products.
Antipsychotic Medications
Taking an
antipsychotic medication with Zydone can increase your risk of side effects, such as drowsiness, confusion, memory loss, or difficulty breathing. Serious side effects may also occur. Talk to your healthcare provider before combining Zydone with an antipsychotic medication.
Barbiturates
Combining a barbiturate with Zydone can increase your risk of side effects, such as drowsiness, confusion, memory loss, or difficulty breathing. Serious side effects may also occur. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking these medications together.
