Zydone Drug Interactions

If certain medications are combined with Zydone, drug interactions could occur that may significantly increase your risk for serious side effects, such as extreme drowsiness, confusion, or liver failure. Products that can interact with Zydone include alcohol, barbiturates, and other medicines that contain acetaminophen. To prevent these and other drug interactions, talk to your healthcare provider before combining Zydone with any other medications.

 

Zydone Drug Interactions: An Overview

Zydone® (hydrocodone/APAP) can potentially interact with a number of other medications. In particular, Zydone is prone to interacting with other medications that cause drowsiness or sedation. Some of the medicines that may lead to drug interactions with Zydone include:
 
  • Alcoholic beverages (or medications that contain alcohol)
  • Antidepressants
  • Antihistamines (including many allergy, sleep, and motion sickness medications)
  • Antipsychotics
  • Barbiturate medications, such as:
     
    • Butalbital (Fioricet®, Fiorinal®)
    • Pentobarbital (Nembutal®)
    • Phenobarbital (Luminal®)
 
 
  • Other opiates or narcotics, such as morphine (MS Contin®, MSIR®) or oxycodone (OyxIR®, OxyContin®)
  • Other products that contain acetaminophen, including many prescription and non-prescription pain killers and cold or cough products
  • Sleep medications.
